The first issue of Copy This Cassette! is a real treat. For anyone who loves cassettes, underground music, or curious subcultures, the birth of CTC will be true cause for celebration.
In the first half, there are interviews with the great Marc Masters (author of High Bias: The Distorted History of the Cassette Tape), Carl Kruger (of experimental music record shop SquidCo.), and Antiquated Future's own Joshua James Amberson.
The second half is a review zine format, in the tradition of zine-review publications like Factsheet Five and Zine World. Werts reviews nearly 70 albums released on cassette-based labels over the last several years. He remains positive and supportive, even when it isn't his cup of tea, which is a delight.
56 pages, half-letter size. With art from Billy the Robot and Marc Myers. CTC is the new evolution of D. Blake Werts' Copy This! series on the culture and history of mini-comics.
